THE COMMANDER IN CHIEF OF THE CONEY ISLAND DANCERS IS GEARING UP FOR THIS SUMMER (2012) - HERE IS WHAT'S UP!!!!
THIS SPRING (2012) THE COMMANDER & THE ENTIRE CONEY ISLAND WILL BE BLITZING MANHATTAN!!!!
But What a summer we had last year.
Worldwide economic turmoil continues, and the U.S. was on the brink of defaulting, the Southwest U.S. experienced
over 40 days of 100 plus temperature and, oh yeah, an
earthquake and a hurricane hit NYC in the same week!!!
Never a dull moment.
But the Coney Island Dancers - a well-known
organization in the community - still prevail.
The Coney Island Dancers are a group of adults who volunteer
and care about Coney Island.
Within the last few years Rican Vargas, (Commander-in-Chief) has organized and lead the C.I.D. movement in a different direction. My goal is to heighten Autism Awareness and remove the 'warriors' image, replacing it with the Coney Island Dancers image, a positive image, a happy image for my community.
This underground organization that looks for no glory other than the well-being of the community has stepped up to the plate with a new clean-up program which we have dubbed, “the Cool Hand Luke program”.
This is a joint effort of three different entities: the
Parks Department (Mike Super), the Coney Island Development
Corporation (Nate Bliss), and the District Attorney’s office
(Alexander Gurevich).
The Coney Island Dancers is a small DJ business that plays disco
music, house music, funk, and soul on the boardwalk during the
summer for free every Friday, Saturday, and Sunday.
Our company is looking toward next summer with new ideas.
My organization has become the undisputed TOP PROMOTER of CONEY ISLAND
and we plan to take Coney Island to Down Town Brooklyn in May 2012.
This past
summer while working with Nathan Bliss (C.I.D.C.) on the boardwalk we
talked about promotion but out of coney island. I stepped out of Coney Island last
summer and did one event in Borough Hall and was amazed with the
response we received.
It was a cute event but i'm prone to look
outside the box. Think about it for a minute because the saying is,
"there is strength in numbers."
i will be meeting with Chuck
Reichenthal (Community Board 13) & Nate Bliss (C.I.D.C) some time this year (2012) for the invasion of down town Brooklyn. This is about screaming
as loud as we can to bring tourists into my community who will come
& enjoy the best park in New York City - CONEY ISLAND!!!!
Happy New Year & stay tuned!!!
